Prints to support new film work
Josefin Arnell has been nominated for the 2023 edition of the Prix de Rome Art prize. The nomination involves a commission for a new work, and the results will be shown at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, 14 October 2023 to 4 March 2024.
In addition to already received funding, to support the production of this film, Josefin is creating an edition of 10 hand-finished prints. The sales of the prints will go directly toward the production budget of the film. This directly also contributes to the wages of all collaborators of the production. As a supporter of the production you will be mentioned in the credits of the film.
Josefin is working with visitors and staff at the Amsterdam community centre De Witte Boei to create a film in which fantasy and fiction pierce through everyday life. In the context of housing shortages and welfare cuts, Arnell questions what it means to be a ‘good’ citizen. Through scriptwriting workshops, the film is influenced by direct stories of the neighborhood creating a mysterious narrative with fictional characters and magical appearances.
